The US FDA is evaluating reports of side effects, including hair loss and suicidal thoughts, in people taking medications like Ozempic, Mounjaro, and Wegovy.
The probe into these issues was disclosed Tuesday in a quarterly report by the FDA, which revealed that the agency is investigating reports of alopecia, a hair loss condition; aspiration, a complication during surgery when people inhale food or other objects into their airway; and suicidal ideation in people who used the medications.
I'm assuming these wonderful drugs are for weight loss?
It's like watching tv and a wonderful new drug is being advertised... birds are singing, the person taking said pills is smiling and has lots of friends and is obviously doing well.
Then they have this voice intrude talking fast... side effects may include vomiting, diarrhea, migranes, heart murmurs, feelings of wanting to stab your lovely neighbor you know the one who is driving the new BMW...
Ozempic was prescribed by my endocrinologist for diabetes about 5 years or so ago. He was a supporter of new advances in medications, so I've been using it. The only side effect I feel is a lack of appetite and some "morning sickness". That's it.
I can appreciate the jokes and laughter, and tolerate those who have determined those who are prescribed these drugs are just lazy.
My biggest frustration is the off label prescribing. It has, at times, left me without this medication.
There are side effects to all medications, the question is, do the pros outweigh the cons...for me, they do.
I'd rather be fat, because that can be changed with hard work and discipline, while baldness cannot.
