My left ear has felt "congested" for a few days now, and I'm having a tough time hearing out of it. You know the feeling that you get sometimes after a long flight? That's how it feels. Yet I can't seem to fix the problem! Any suggestions on how to clear it out?

Do you have allergies? Ear problems can be related to that. Tried using a netti pot? It rinses out nose/entrance of sinuses and can be really helpful.

Be careful, don't stick things in your ears. Some regular or family doctors take big water syringes and squirt a bunch of luke warm water very forcefully into the ear canal to clean it out. I hate that, and I think that is the reason I have ringing in my ears. An doctor who is an ear specialist will use a visual scope and a tiny suction tube to "vacuum" clean your ear canal to clear it of whatever obstruction there is. That's much better, and is much safer for your ear drum or ear canal. Whatever is blocking you ear canal needs to be removed, otherwise water can get trapped back there and cause an infection. Then you will be not just uncomfortable but in pain, it's a horrible feeling. Do yourself a big favor and go see an ear specialist doctor. In the meantime, keep water out of your ear because otherwise it will likely get trapped and cause an infection.

Try a decongestant, like Sudafed, or something. If it starts hurting, go to a doctor!

I highly recommend the neti pot. I have drainage problems with my ears for decades and that problem disappeared when I began using a neti pot daily. Go to sinu cleanse website. I use their neti pot and their website has a coupon. They're sold at Walgreens and Walmart. My problem is my airbone from my sinuses to my ears would not allow drainage and I had so many infections one of my eardrums had to be replaced. I use to take a decongestant daily for several years. Since using a neti pot, I've never taken a decongestant again.

I picked up the neti pot this morning. Gotta admit -- very weird feeling having water pour out of your nose! It definitely cleaned up out my nose quite a bit, but I don't see how this will help ear congestion.

It will help because your ears, nose and throat are all connected to eachother. If your ear is congested, cutting off the source of the fluids will help.

Oh I see, that makes sense.

I hope that it helps sooner rather than later, cause the first dosage did absolutely nothing.

No, it's a gradual process. I recommend pouring into one nostril in the morning and the other in the evening daily. Within a few days you will feel a difference. It's going to take some time to flush out all the dry and crusty build-up up inside the sinusis.
