One of the lymph nodes in my groin area is enlarged and tender. What can cause this? Does anyone know?

STDs and other infections in that area can cause it as well. Mine were swollen from really bad mono though.

The list is as long as my arm of potential possiblities, running the gamut from a small cut on your foot that got a bit infected, to bubonic plague and worse....See a doctor.
