I am sure that a lot of us love to hike our local trails and enjoy the great outdoors, so I thought I would pass this on as a way to give back to those places you treasure.
This link allows for you to search local events in your area that you can help volunteer with on National Trails Day (June 4, 2011) or throughout the year.
Common activities that trail clubs need help with are picking/spraying/cutting down invasive non-native species of plants, maintaining trails, building and repairing trail features, and so many more activities! It isn't too difficult and is so rewarding and I hope that some of you out there get involved. If your favorite place isn't listed, I would suggest doing a google search to see if a club website exists and whether or not they are having any events that day.
If anyone knows of local events, please post them in the community forum section so that more people know about this and can get involved.
