Hahaha. That is the silliest thing I have read in a long time. The drone sounds like a hornet's hive after a whack on the side of it. No very secretive to say the least. And, if you think folks are casing your house to steal your grill on the patio, you must live in a place where there is not enough real stuff to steal.

See, you guys can't even agree. Here's what the guy before you said: " get 10ft away from the things and you wont hear em." At least have a consistent narrative.

Well, I actually have one and you can hear it clear as day up to about 100 feet in altitude. It took 200 feet before I did not notice it.

This attitude is why people dont like drones, they assume the only reason for them is to spy when in actuality most drones are just flown for fun or if they are camera equipped the operator isnt going to be wasting his time hanging around outside your bedroom window.
These days gathering personal info is done through credit card usage, cell phone, computer activity and ok there might be the rare drone operator who might want to observe your actions although this is most likely your local police dept.

Getting all paranoid and scared about the devices and resorting to Shooting them down is not in your best legal interest.

Obviously the reason is privacy.

Default Why does the public hate drones so much ???

Not sure if I posted here already but I think the main reason people hate drones is because they are just plain creepy... and only not because they can take video of you. They way drones hover/move/sound is just unnatural... there's something unnerving about them that has probably been unintentionally planted into our subconscious minds by sci-fi pop culture.

In other words, it's an irrational dislike.
