Besides such games are based on total luck, not like card ones where skills can really help you to win pokertips.org/strategy/four-skills.php so I don't expect getting much money from them, for me fun is more important But I was lucky with winning money several times, it has never been more tham $50 dollars but anyway it was a pleasant surprise for me.
I like sport bettings too but I take a part in them rather rare.
Also have you ever won smth in case of lotteries?
I can't play poker with friends or in a casino. No matter how hard I try, or practice, I just cant put on a poker face.

I do great online, made some good money. but it's boring

I play with people and they can read me like a childrens book

I'll stick with Blackjack

Just Fanduel (daily fantasy baseball) and one or two big sports bets per year for me (total Yankee wins under 94, etc) for me.

The odds at any casino guarantee that the more you play, the more you'll lose. In small doses though casinos can be very fun.

State lotteries have 4-5 times WORSE odds than casinos so of course I stay away from those. Fun fact: the odds of you declaring bankruptcy go UP if you win a Lotto/Powerball type jackpot. And not just a little, you will actually be more likely to go bankrupt than not. "Well, not me..." YES. You.

Stick with games that require skill and have no house cut. That's pretty much just fantasy sports, private poker games, and betting among friends (Super Bowl, etc). Everything else is a sucker's bet.

Oh, I'm a great fan of gambling! I totally adore that special type of fun which it gives to me so in my case it became a hobby a long time ago. I even think sometimes that I could be considered as a heavy player but in my case it's mostly that time which I spend to various games, not money because I always control my separate budget for this hobby Yeah, I know my limits and I try not to concentrate too much on money I can win, for me general process of playing is much more pleasant, I think that it's a common thing for many players, maybe that's why it's so easy to become addictive in this case like in case of other types of games too.
To tell the truth, I'm not a great fan of real casinos, I tried them several times but it seems that it's just not my type, smth with the atmosphere which isn't perfect for me... I prefer online ones https://heaven4gamblers.com/showthread.php/19-888-Casino-Review much more, various slots and craps are my favourite in this case, however it's really hard sometimes to find a good one, not a scam. On the other hand I really like that there are many games where you can play free just for the process without spending money which in my case is really a nice solution sometimes And in case of prizes... I'm not a very lucky person for casinos, my biggest prize was smth like 120$ in general but it was a pleasant one anyway.
I like card games too, especially bridge and poker but I play them only in real life, usually in a company of my friends, for me that's really interesting only in this way Sports bettings and lotteries are my favourites too but I've never been lucky with them

I love being in the casinos. I don't gamble like I used to.

I gambled maybe three times last year. I used to go more frequently, but it is a losing endeavor. I once hit five jackpots in one month.

Nowadays we rarely go except on promotional days like Senior Days. It's still fun!

"Frustrating?"

Basic strategy, or variations therein, can be learned in a few tens of hours of practice, YMMV depending on intelligence and ability to track numbers. I learned that when I was 20, maybe a hundred rules/scenarios and what to do in each, I'm guessing. Not something I'd ever forget, though it fades a bit over time w/o practice.

Clicking it up a notch: what I used to call the Plus / Minus Count, related to number of face cards played, took longer to master and becomes rather useless and ponderous beyond maybe a 3 deck shoe. They adjust other odds (rules) to negate counts in smaller shoe games anyway. That was in addition to variations on Basic of course. That may have given me a fraction of a percentage point or so, depending on various factors.

These days there are web sites that list strip odds at each casino. The casinos change table rules based on various factors.

Snipped from one site, under fair use (I hope):

"If you follow all the Blackjack rules and play perfect basic strategy the house edge is reduced to about .5% in game with favorable rules. By favorable rules, we mean the following rules, which you are only likely to find in a 6 deck game:

* Dealer stands on all 17s
* Double down on any first two cards
* Double down after splitting pairs
* Natural pays the proper 3 for 2 odds"

So, all things considered, uh, you lose... absent a pretty detailed and involved counting strategy. I don't have either large enough stake or the mental discipline to get ahead of that particular 8-ball. The very few who do are eventually chased out of every casino, I'm virtually certain. Might want to read the true story about "MIT Blackjack Team" who decided to put their big-brains on the matter, and cleaned out various casinos. My HS friend Henry H was one of them (undergrad, Master's, Ph.D. from MIT). They operated many years, with various participants.

"...Fully trained players had to pass an intense "trial by fire," consisting of playing through 8 six-deck shoes with almost perfect play, and then undergo further training, supervision, and similar check-outs in actual casino play until they could become full stakes players."

Not sure why that is frustrating, it's a pure math game and AFAIK the only one that can be (almost) leveled out in terms of cutting the house edge via sufficient brain power. Getting emotional about any of it is a great time to go home. Otherwise it's just another stupid way to lose money.

I only like gambling on sports, and even then it's just to ramp up the excitement a little. I find my money and the experience go too quickly at the tables and slots. I like to soak in my bet and ride the wave of emotions that comes with it. Of course I don't bet "real money" when I gamble, just enough to make it interesting for me.

FYI, I play perfect basic strategy and I count cards.

Even with a house edge of "only" 0.5% the game runs in streaks.

Take a coin and flip it. 50% it comes up heads, 50% tails. But, mathematically and practically, it is not 50-50 out of a hundred (theoretically, you could have 1 heads in 100 flips) The laws of average could extend into thousands of flips (or hands of BJ) to even out at 50-50

Even with my card playing knowledge, backed with a sufficient bankroll, the Blackjack Gods often laugh at players.

I was at a table with a good friend who has been banned at every Vegas Casino (yes, for the uninformed, they can and do ban players who are too good and sloppy in their betting) and his wife (who basically didn't know crap about how to play. He was playing 2-500.00 (or more) a hand and she was playing 10.00 a hand.

She was doing the dumbest things and he kept yelling at her to "PLAY CORRECTLY" He was many thousands behind and she was up several hundred dollars. (I was just watching the fun and playing 10-20.00/hand and holding my own.)

On one hand, she split 10s (again, for the uninformed-YOU NEVER SPLIT 10s EVER!!!) he lost it and started screaming at her, She pulled an ace on each 10 and won.

By now, he was read as a beet (to this day, I still don't know why he plays big bucks at a 10.00 table with his wife)

Anyway, on the very next hand, I had 10.00 out and was dealt 2 picture cards. I winked at her and split the hand. I was dealt another 10 and split it again and then I was dealt an ace on each hand. (Mathematically, it was impossible for 5 hands, hers and mine, in a row to be dealt 21s) That was the only time in my life that I ever split 10s

I leaned over, gave her a kiss on the cheek and told her "it's your hand, you do what you want"

He didn't talk to me for almost 3 years

So, yes, the Blackjack Gods have a sense of humor. And, that is why blackjack is so damn frustrating!

And that is why I love blackjack

We go to a local casino at least once a month, sometime more, but we go for the shows & to eat a meal, even when they give us free cash to play with, we do not use it. I do not care for gambling at all. I like my money.
