What is the trim painted in the rest of the house?
You'll want some continuity with the trim in regards to the rest of the house. As far as order, walls first, then trim.
If you have beige furniture, why not try to go a little 'zen' (you seem like a person into nature) and go with a soft green color? I think that would look pretty cool.
I don't know what wall color you chose. Did I miss a link to it? I am personally a fan of roman shades. They are clean looking and with great window trim, no other type of window treatment in necessary, IMO. I have wood ones that I purchased from Lowe's but JcPenney has a lot of options in fabrics.

Can you folks recommend me a color for my duvet cover that will match the wall. Also, what kind of rug would go with this ? Mirrors, lighting, floor lamps? I'm all ears.
