Large white-tiled living room. May be moving there. The furniture in the photos is not mine. Mine is all light-colored wood, pine and maple. What suggestions do you have for rugs etc to balance all the pale colors.

I'm not a decorator, but here goes. Assuming you cannot paint the walls,
I'd get a multi colored rug that covers almost the entire room, go to Z Gallerie and buy some large colorful prints and finish with tall plants
(some sort of palm) on both sides of the doors.

Can you paint the walls?

If not, do what Kappinator suggested - plus, when you are arranging your own furniture, don't line everything up against the walls. Yeah, and more crosses.....

I can paint the walls if/when I buy it. I guess I can do anything I want. Yee ha!

I meant to post this on home decorating, but I am glad to get your input. More crosses, yeh, right.

make 1 accent wall in a warm tone (perhaps a notch darker than the other walls). Get some colorful pillows (brighter warm colors) for your existing furniture (you can always change and get rid of easily).

Bring some colors there. Nice colorful rug, pillows, pictures, plants, window drapes, lamp shades. Just decide what will be the main color and add to that.

What color is your sofa, chairs?

I think that the furniture should at least sit on part of the area rug, not a rug just laying in the middle of the floor like a dance floor.
The walls need to be painted a color you like. Not loving the white tile floor, but that is JMO.

the french doors are pretty.
