I was visiting a friend the other day who has several signs in her house. She is a big fan of Joanna Gaines and has basically copied much of her style down to the inspirational quotes on the wall.
In her kitchen were the following "Eat Here" "Kiss the Cook" "Fresh Eggs" "Diner open 24 hours"
In the powder room "Wash Brush Floss Flush" "Shut the Door" and "Le Bain"
In the living room "Open Hands and Loving Hearts" "Family" "All Because Two People Fell In Love" "Bless Our Home" "Laugh Often Love Much"
In her office "Live Your Dreams" "You Are Magnificent" "Because I Said So, That's Why" "Not All Who Wander Are Lost" "Every Day Is A Chance To Make A Difference."
You get the idea. I am sure there were signs in the bedroom too, and there were several in the dining room I can't remember them all.
What is your opinion of this trend? I find it really trite and distracting, full disclosure. I don't know that this is a style I would use, but if I lived in an old farmhouse, I might be more open to a vintage "fresh eggs" sign in the kitchen, ONE sign. Maybe. I see these sorts of signs in shops and online everywhere-- someone must be buying them.
IMO there are WAY TOO MANY of these and they will be outdated very soon. Maybe one or two but I draw the line after that.
Can we speed that up a little?
Is there a reason that people really latched on to these? I like a good quote now and then, but these are not necessarily insightful. And to see it on my wall every day? Seems sort of goofy. Especially when there are a lot of them.
I think that is a bit over the top but I have a single sign about 3/4 of and inch by 16 or so inches that says Live well, laugh often love much, over the door way to the kitchen. It really is my favorite quote and DH even gave me a circle of gold with those words in a pendant. It took on an even more special meaning when he gave me the pendant and I was telling a few of the ladies about it and I goofed and said, Live well, love often laugh much. Raised a few eyebrows with that one!!!

I think they already are, but people still haven't realized it's a dead trend yet (still fresh, not yet rotting and stinky enough to get the attention of most).
But what do I know, I don't watch TV, do any "social media" or own a smartphone ~ I'm clearly some nutjob.
One or two would be ok, especially if they're part of a grouping of different pictures, but I wouldn't want to see them in every room in my own house. One of the nicest signs I've seen was hanging in our current house when we first looked at it. The owners' children had it made and it had words that described their parents placed creatively on the canvas- such as their home towns, professions, hobbies, year of marriage. There was only one word picture in the house and it was in the perfect location. I may have to make one for myself.

I would never decorate my home with signs. Funny or not they are just.. tacky, or corny at best. It comes across to me more often as nagging. I don't need a wall telling me to love my life or eat my food.
Some words in nursery might be OK, for educational purposes.

Wow, I feel the same way and never thought to attach the word 'nagging' to it but it fits!
Long before anyone ever heard of Joanna Gaines, Kohl's was a major distributor of quote/word art.
It wouldn't be a stretch to say Kohl's was one of her influences.
