Looks like Eastern European influences on Christmas trees are “in” this year: https://www.architecturaldigest.com/...his-season/amp

Agreed re: the globe. i’ve seen the one in the SF mall...it is not that impressive in person. The one in Coronado is magnificent is person. I believe there are places that sell unside down trees but they sit on the floor rather than hang off a ceiling.

It has actually been around for several years, and started in retail as a better way to display Christmas ornaments because they "hung" better.

Yeah, I was gonna say Macy's has been doing upside down trees in their Christmas section for years. This is nothing new.

Upside down trees didn’t start in retail, and the tradition goes back centuries, not just “Macy’s has been doing upside down trees in their Christmas section for years.”

The article is reporting purported trends, not what is new. I’m constantly reminded that people often mistakenly conflate what is “trendy” with what is “new”, when the two are not necessarily synonymous.

100% agree.
You can even buy at Wal-Mart.
They do look interesting if decorated right. Like on the link provided. I also like the finish at the top.

Thats old Central/East European tradition and over there most hang from the ceiling. Those commercially sold in the US sit on floor for safety reasons.
Where I come from we did the upside down tree few times. It surely looks different and amazing. Great space saver too...

Just look at this beauty. I wouldn't mind to have it as permanent art in my home:
Spoiler

Also love the corner design:

You are correct it is not new, the origin was actually religious in nature as a reference to the Trinity centuries ago. I was responding from the stand point of it being a "trend" in homes and while the article shows numerous pictures supporting the trend, not one is in a home. I guess the better word for me to have used would have been commercial.
