Well, I just tried to hang my curtains in my living room and 10 minutes later a bracket just pulled out and failed.
Details: This is over my LR slider into concrete block. There is drywall, held on with furring strips, over the block. That means there is a gap (maybe 1/4" to 1/2" - not sure) between the back of the drywall and the beginning of the block.
What I did was purchase (on advice from a lowes guy - probably my 1st mistake) these concrete anchors.
Then I got longer screws than were provided with the curtain rod bracket. Drilled the holes, set the anchor, screwed it all in. Seemed fine, but still failed.
What the h*ll do I do now?
As you can see from the pre-finished picture up there, the furring strips to the left and right are too far away and there is nothing in the center at all.
What about a longer curtain rod that extends beyond the gap in the wall so the anchors have something to grip?
Those two furring strips on either side are about 2 feet from the slider opening at that would not look right. Also, that doesn't resolve how to hang a bracket over the middle of the door.

Got it. Sorry, I realized after typing my idea wouldn't solve the problem. Talk to a drapery installer...they may have suggestions for longer reaching anchors and supporting draperies and rods across wider spaces like sliders.

Hang the curtain rod higher than the door opening. That way you can use a center support.
Buy several styles of anchors and bring them all home at once. That way you can try several. I’ve had success with toggle bolts that open up in the gap between the sheetrock and the block.
The tapcon screws were too large for the holes in the curtain brackets. In the end, I routed out the holes so the screws would fit. The curtains are up and hopefully they will stay that way.

Thanks, all.
Thanks for updating the thread. And good job!
