Thank you!

I keep wood poles the bed of the truck so if I am carrying something heavy, it gets unloaded on top of them and then at home, I can roll it to the tail gate. Anyone see any problem or hazards with that for a dining room table?

I think you would be just fine! And you can also get a thick heavy quilt once it's down and literally slide it into your place (as long as it's ground level) You would be surprised how much heavy furniture I moved by myself that way.

Good luck in your hunt!

I'd lay a poly tarp out under the quilt. Avoids dragging in dirt as well as the furniture. Those things are tough as well as slick! Once you reach the inside threshold, ditch the tarp unless you have deeper shaggy carpet.

But, a number of questions, such as what's the most stable table? An inverted T with the foot of the T in the center of the table and the arms against the floor? Good enough to serve coffee and refreshments to friendly mobsters just passing by......and perform meatball surgery on?

BUT, those would probably be expensive as heck, and I maybe reduced to looking on Craig's list. So at least two questions there.

First, when looking at used furniture, are there certain things or faults one should look for, warn offs?

Secondly, if one is going to do a DIY move, what does one need? I have an F-250 but even it it does fit in the bed.......somehow.......would a trailer be better........or just bite the bullet and hire the professionals? Easy enough said but on a Craigs list project, perhaps impossible to pull off. So does one need blankets? Frames? How does one do a furniture move when one is an amateur? No doubt it will probably need lots of pretty, pretty boys, too!.....and that's another problem.
I'm sorry, but all of these questions can easily be answered by your own commen sense. I am female and I can tell you that you will need a U-haul and yes (duhh) blankets to protect the furniture. If the table is too big to fit your truck, ummm... yes, you will need a trailer. You should be able to figure this out.
