I am looking to spray all my inside door knobs "oiled rubbed bronze" and get rid of that tacky bass crap. I bought the paint from rustoleum, but my question is, will I need to do some sort of a primer and also a clear protective coat?
I also read somewhere that someone sprayed bathroom fixtures, but I can't imagine a faucet with constant water would even hold up??
I'll go ahead and play the part of wet blanket here...
You can do this, but I'll pretty much guarantee you that you'll regret it. Yes, you need to "break the glaze" on the brass, and you need to use primer. But even then, it's almost a certainty that the spray paint is NOT going to hold up on door knobs. It might hold up on things you don't grab and twist multiple times every day, but it won't hold up on door knobs.
Wow, my little door knob thread......
Yes, I did the hinges and strike thing too.
OK, now time will tell if it was a good idea or not, and if not, no big deal.
Pictures would be nice - I'm curious how it came out.
Not that I could do this because mine are worn out on the inside and really need to be replaced anyway, so no flames here.
