You'd be better off buying satin nickel knobs. Oil rubbed bronze, while pretty, is just a trend.

But I do not want nickel knobs, I want bronze.
When the trend changes or I change my mind, I will buy something else. Its only door knobs.

I also read somewhere that someone sprayed bathroom fixtures, but I can't imagine a faucet with constant water would even hold up??
I'll go ahead and play the part of wet blanket here...

You can do this, but I'll pretty much guarantee you that you'll regret it. Yes, you need to "break the glaze" on the brass, and you need to use primer. But even then, it's almost a certainty that the spray paint is NOT going to hold up on door knobs. It might hold up on things you don't grab and twist multiple times every day, but it won't hold up on door knobs.

Sorry to be the Debby Downer.

What about the hinges and strike plates? Did you paint those too because I imagine brass and bronze don't look too good when combined like that.

Spend a little money and install something made in the USA.

Wow, my little door knob thread......
Yes, I did the hinges and strike thing too.
OK, now time will tell if it was a good idea or not, and if not, no big deal.

Pictures would be nice - I'm curious how it came out.

Not that I could do this because mine are worn out on the inside and really need to be replaced anyway, so no flames here.
