We recently installed a Jenn air Stainless steel wall mount chimney hood above our cook-top. But unfortunately, the hood is about 1-1.5 ft short of the ceiling..!! Buying another piece of extension would cost another $200-300 (i think.. ) ,,. is there anything else i can do to cover the gap between the hood and the ceiling? like maybe wood work ?? someone also suggested i fabricate the entire extension in one piece... would that be cheaper and how much would it cost me?? wud appeciate pics for inspiration if anyone has done anything like this..... thks......

If it works with your decor, you could try to do some sort of wainscoting to cover the gap. I'm thinking about using mdf and poplar 1x_ to make a DIY wainscot that could be blended into the room's crown molding...

Extension kit- MSRP: $229
Which means you could probably get it for $200 or less at the dealer.
I'd just buy it and be done with it!

Just find a local Jenn Air dealer- give them the model number, tell them what you need. You already know the MSRP- now deal!
