Don't you have a people door on the side of the garage? If not, and you are going to cut into the wall, why not install a people door, and then install the doggie door in the people door? Then when you sell, you can replace the door with a new one, instead of having to repair a hole in the wall with matching siding.
We have had doggie doors in most of our homes..in one we did cut through the wall in the kitchen dining area and the dogs used that..here is the company that we used..they have all kinds of doors and if you call they can help you through... Pet Doors: Dog Doors and Cat Doors
We also, in our last home, had a doggie door that was used by our dachshund and ex racing greyhound. the little guy had to kind of make a running start, but he got through..
If you're concerned about someone entering your house through a large doggie door, you might consider doing what I did. I also had a very large doggie door installed through siding because it wasnt convenient to install it in an exterior door. To hide the fact that there was a large doggie door, I attached a large dog house, with the rear panel removed, to the siding. When my dog was using the doggie door, it looked, to any observer, as if he were just going into and out of his dog house.
