66 in Savannah, and it rarely kicks on except in the wee hours of the morning. We get a lot of passive heat from the sun during the day.

66 during the day, I can wear a sweatshirt. 60 at night, I have a blanket. A relative of mine keeps hers at 82. Wonders why she has a $300 gas bill.

I knew the aux heater on our heat pump spins the meter dial like crazy, but had never thought about a staged change in temp. The information by Coalman and others about how not to trigger the heat pump aux heat was useful. We are 68 day time, back to 62 at 9pm and reset to 68, beginning at 5:30am. I think we'll try a graduated schedule if the programmable allows it. Very informative. Thanks Guys and Gals.

Oh, location is North Georgia, ~70 miles from the Tennessee/North Carolina border.

We're in north Florida too (have been in Florida for 40+ years - the first 25 in Miami). 73 in terms of heating - 77 in terms of cooling. It is 73 in my house now - and I am wearing sweat pants and a turtleneck. Robyn
