I have a little house with a little 1 car detached garage. The house is all white and the garage is this faded light blue color. I've started priming it because it's driving me crazy, but I don't really know what color to paint it when I'm done. I'm not good at color-coordinating things. Should I just paint it white too?

How do you feel about the white? Maybe this is an opportunity to change the color of both the garage and the house to something you really like...

Well, the house has aluminum siding and the garage has wood. The house looks ok, and it would make the job 3 times bigger if I painted that too. I'm just trying to make it look better for when I sell the house in a few years.

Haste makes waste.

Paint it to match the house as close as you can.

I too would try to match it to the house, but may do a bright color for the garage door (if you'll be painting that as well)- something that you could co-ordinate with the front door or house trim later on

Good luck!

Match the house.

Use an accent color for the doors, or use urns and plantings to add color.

Unless the garage is distinctive in some way, then paint the garage to match the house. Match the siding as closely as you can. Take your time choosing the right white--there are loads of different whites out there. Even then, it will not be possible to get an exact match, but then the two structures are detached so it will harder to detect a difference if you get a close match.

If the garage is done in a unique style that isn't like the house, then I'd paint the garage in a different color, with a little of the white matched to the house as trim. In that case I'd post another query with a picture.

But usually, you would want to paint the garage to match the house.

We had a new garage (detached) built to go with an old house. The garage siding color choices were limited so what we did was have the garage body the same color as the house trim (white) and painted the garage trim the same color as the house body (yellow). The garage door is white also. I am pretty sure we got that color scheme idea from when we lived in New England years ago.

Do you have a trim color on the house or is it also white? I realize this may not work for you if you have something like black trim and you don't want a black garage.
