Thanks again all. If I do not hire someone to break and haul, I will definitely get the right heavy tools.

Follow-up Question... Same Subject.

If I wanted to do this a section (5'x5' or so) at a time, do you think it could be done?

That's what I did. I'd take out 20-40 sq ft a day to make it easier. The whole project stretched over a couple of months - I'd take out what I needed then go work on something else less difficult for a while. In thick spots with rebar sometimes the smallest chunks I could break down to were over 120 lbs, and I didn't want to move too many of those in 1 day!

That's quite a project! I'd get estimates on having it done and compare to doing it yourself. What they can do in less than a day, you could spend a week doing. Rental and disposal costs add up. Concrete is heavy. some projects just aren't big moneysavers DIY.
I've done my own paver jobs. Prep is key. Do poor prep work and you'll be fight them forever.

Good luck

What did you replace your drive with, more concrete or pavers?

Having a pro do it will at least double the cost.

Yep and by the time you rent the equipment even if able to some what operate it your cost comes close besides needing a truck to haul away. Finishing concrete takes skill as I use to work in summer when finishers.God;forbid when concrete comes your not prepared to get with it.

Removing that driveway is not good exercise. If you want exercise, get that. Want a broken body, break up and remove a lot of concrete yourself.

If retirement to you includes being an invalid or person in pain, jump right in.

Hire someone.

Do you really want to be one of those "what happened to you?" stories?
