Hello,

Today I inspected the attic because my young son has been telling me he heard sounds (banging). Found nothing but what I noticed is a couple of baffles have detached. The baffle is still not letting the insulation on the soffit vent but they are not stapled to the wood anymore (top part). I think I saw 1 or 2 baffles out of 10+ with this issue. Should I try to fix this asap? The attic has so much insulation that I cannot see the joists on the floor and the thought of removing all the insulation is a nightmare. Thanks!

Baffles are most useful while the attic insulation is being installed. You shouldn't worry about a few becoming detached. There's no situation in which even removing a couple of baffles would make a difference.

Except removing the baffle could allow insulation to shift into the soffit area, thus closing off the air path for attic ventilation.

Thanks for the reply. So it sounds like as long as I don't actually remove them manually it should be ok?
