I want to know if it is possible to switch/replace the flat cooktop and regular coil based?

The flattop is not working for us we need to go back to electric coil type cook top.

Of course! Just make sure the new stove fits in the space left by the old one.

I hate the ceramic glass cooktops I have one and I much prefer the old style. The glass tops are toted as being easy to clean and they are for the most part until you REALLY need to clean it. I had someting burn onto the glass and it turned into like charcoal that you couldn't get off with a sponge. I had to take a razorblade and delicately scrape it off. Then you are supposed to use special cleaners for the glass. To me it's more of a pain and it have to worry about damaging the cooktop. The old style coil burners could take a beating and you can easily remove those pans underneath and throw them in the dishwasher or hand clean them.

New technology is not always better.

And with how I cook, the smooth top is WAY easier to clean and keep clean!

To each his own; good thing there are still options.

Thanks for the review. I was actually planning on getting one of those cooktops with the glass tops. Now I'll just stick to the gas range

My first choice would be a gas range but since we do have electric I have to say I like the smooth top. It is easy to clean and if you do have bad spills or burns just use the Weiman's cleanser for ceramic cook tops. It really does work on everything.

I like the glass tops, both from ease of cleaning to temperature control.
Yes, you do have to keep them clean. Yes, sometimes you have to use a razor blade. Howe3ver, if you wipe off the glass top after each use, it will stay pretty clean.
It really helps if you keep the bottom of the pans clean, since the crud on the bottom will burn onto the glass. Clean pan bottom, not so much mess.

Of course, if your cooking involves lots of spills, then maybe they are not for you.,
