I have two egress windows in my unfinished basement. My dog has shown quite a bit of interest in the window wells, so I want to put something on top to keep her (and other critters) from falling down. I'm not liking the plastic covers I've found at the local big box home improvement store - I'm afraid they will yellow and filter light from coming in.
Unfortunately custom isn't in my budget at this time, but I was wondering if anyone has seen another alternative that I can put over the window wells.

why not just some of those grates? They can be lifted if you need to get in there, but can prevent critters from falling in.
Yes. My house was build in 06 and they have been installed since the house was built. I'll take a picture of them if you want when I get home. You can google them also though.
When I put in an egress window about 5-7 years ago the well came with a hinged cover. I don't know if it was an option or standard. I'll have to look at them and see if there is a brand on them
