Here is what I mean - see how we used 2 boards to transition from one area to the next? Even though in this picture the boards run in the same direction (another hallway they don't, but I don't have a pic of the floor to show) they create a threshold. What is nice about doing this is that it gives you a chance to keep your boards square over long runs. The threshold pieces break up the long runs, but in a natural looking way. If your house isn't perfectly square, or if your installation of the boards is a bit off, you can correct it this way.
