Not for me personally. When I built I put in a corner garden tub just for resale value but I've used it half a dozen times in 13 years! Much prefer the walk-in shower. Have a tub/shower combo in the second/hall bath.
We have always had a shower only in our master bedroom. Other bathroom has a tub for the grandchildren when they visit but they use the shower in the tub also.
We are remodeling the master bath in the home we just purchased. This particular home appeals to the empty nester/retirees.There is a second bathroom with a standard tub.
We are on the fence whether to keep the tub or remove it. We are mindful of resale, yet many in our age group (55-65) nix the bathtub.
What would you do? Keep the tub or remove it? Thank you in advance for your thoughts.
I don't understand the latest trend toward removing tubs in the master bath. There are plenty of women around still who love to have a good, relaxing soak, and need something better than a standard tub for maximum effect. It doesn't mean a Jacuzzi, but something of that size, more or less, without the jets.
I'm noticing that high-end homes are still designed and sold with deep soaking tubs. It seems to be the more middle-of-the-line homes that are taking them out.
I wouldn't buy a home that didn't have a good tub.

Exactly! Can't imagine being without bathtub. I use mine all the time.
Returning to OP question - if you do not like to use bathtub, there is no need to keep it.
I'll admit if I take a soak in the tub it's for relaxing and I want do it alone not company, because I want do just that, relax not entertain... So the two other bathrooms have full size tubs that work great for soaking, relaxing and separate large showers. ...Now if I want company & entertainment with hubby we go the hot tub outside! ...
As long as there is a tub somewhere, I would to a shower only. It would depend, however, what price point your house is in. If you are on the more expensive end of houses, people buying your house will expect a soaking tub/Jacuzzi somewhere. Our plan is to remodel our master, put in a luxury shower with a bench/seat, take out the huge Jacuzzi but then add in a large soaking tub or jetted tub of some sort in another bathroom.
I have built three homes in the last twenty years.
Home number one had a fancy whirlpool tub with all the bells and whistles. Kids loved it as a playground. I used it once or twice, maybe.
Second home had a similar tub. Had a few champagne and candle moments in that one....but hardly ever used it otherwise.
Third house I got smart: NO TUB. Don't miss it. Don't ever think about it. There is a tub in the second bath if the spirit ever moves me to want to soak.
