Soon Thanksgiving and the start of the holiday season will be upon us. Do any of you move furniture around for additional guests visiting or holiday decorations (Xmas trees) etc? I remember my folks moving things to make room for the tree near the hearth.

Not for additional guests... we are fine with that.
But we DO have to make room for the Christmas tree... we don't leave a huge empty space in the family room all year!
Yes, I have to move everything out of the garage, the basement storage room and the utility shed so I can hopefully find that hand made crochet center piece given to me 25 years ago that I keep forgetting I gave to Goodwill 24 years ago.
My wife doesn't need Christmas as a reason to move furniture. Every two weeks regardless it will be moved. Need to use the potty in the dark of night? Bring a flashlight. Stubbed toes hurt like the dickens! :-)
Small amount of shifting things around to add all the leaves to the dining room table. Otherwise no. But I am Jewish so no Christmas tree to worry about -I would assume it's pretty normal to move things around to make space for that.
Yes, we must move a chair in order to have a spot for the Christmas tree. I swear, no matter where we live or how big or small our house was, we never have had a good spot for the Christmas tree.
We move our large silk tree from a corner in the great room to the lower level so that we can put the Christmas tree in the exact same spot.
