Due to impending mobility issues i'm thinking of installing a washlet type toilet. .any thing i should know or be aware of before having a plumber come in and install one, is there a difference between a bidet and a washlet?
My price range for purchase and installation is around $1500. am i in the ball park? As is evident in this link prices differ wildly and im not sure why that is =

Are you putting a whole new toilet or just the high tech seat on your existing toilet?

Looks like Amazon has a better price: https://www.amazon.com/TOTO-Washlet-...eat+for+toilet It says you can add expert installation for $139, but I would guess you'd have to have an electrical outlet added near the toilet and that wouldn't be included in their installation.

As Hedgehog Mom said, the main variable is whether you've got an electrical outlet nearby. If yes, then it's not much different than changing a toilet seat.

When we were designing our retirement home, we added an electrical outlet in master bath water closet specifically for a heated bidet seat. We purchased the seat from Costco about $300. We then purchased a washlet for our other two toilets in the home from Amazon for about $25 bucks each.

They don’t have the options and the warm water but certainly work very well. And most of the times I prefer to use these. This could be an option you can try. Requires no special skills to install either.

Putting in an electric plug will be a problem.

You can get an inexpensive bidet seat that just does cold water and doesn't have a heated dry option, so you don't have to plug it in somewhere, but in the winter, it may not be comfortable to use.

Smile Don’t even need a new seat, just this!

This is what we added to our toilets. An awesome product!

No special plumbing needed . .
