Houses I think 7. Homes, about 18. that is counting renting a room on a sailboat, a condo, some apartments, and a town home. It is not counting the three weeks I had to live in a tent.
Most of them were in a three year period when we first moved to California. We moved around a lot. typically every six months to a year. A couple of times we were only in a place for about three months. Since 1991 we have only lived in four homes - all were houses. each one was consecutively longer, except a temporary rental while we moved and restored our current house.
Oops I forgot my parents homes. I did not count them because they were not "mine" However we only lived in two places. Starter home then dream home. I do not think people moved around so much in the past. My father still lives in the second house and has been there since 1971.
My next "home" will likely be an RV. Can I count each campground or parking lot that we stay in as a separate home?

Shortest I've lived somewhere: 3 months as a squatter in my boss's basement - all my stuff was in storage and I only kept a week's worth of clothes with me and slept in a sleeping bag on her basement floor. I had a lot of pride back then and when I couldn't find a new place to live, I refused to move in with my parents and my boss offered me a place until I could find a permanent spot.
Longest I've lived somewhere: our current house, which we have been in for 12 1/2 years.
If I ever move again it'll be into my final house that I will die in. But I'm hoping that I can stay in the house we're currently in. Our mortgage is low, the n'hood is nice, the taxes are low, and the house works for us. Yes, as a future retiree I would probably make changes, but for the next 10-15 years (at least) I'm content to call it home.

It will probably be 8 moves over the course of my lifetime, across two states.
