I wish someone would explain the bidet to me more thoroughly, since, despite being on the planet for 71 years, I’ve never encountered one.
I get that it’s a bum washer....let’s say it’s separate from the toilet, not attached. So, you use the toilet, then hop on over to the bidet and shoot water onto your bum to get it clean. Then what? Do you drip dry? This is where the whole thing gets murky to me.

If anyone wants to experience what true joy is, you must purchase a bidet. I bought the bidet attachment and it is literally life-changing. Now some may think I’m being a little over the top in my praise for this, but for anyone who’s interested, you will wonder how you ever got by without one. It’s really that great!!! This is definitely one of the simple pleasures of life that far too many people are unfamiliar with. When you’re fresh and clean, you feel like you can take on the world.
Thoughts, anyone??
As a guy I would have to place a priority on an in home urinal as opposed to a bidet. It would be nice to have both but a standard urinal would be great for the ground floor half bath and my personal bath.

I'd take the bidet. We can always pee in a toilet. Besides, we can't leave the toilet seat up with a urinal.

I had real bidet all my life untill I moved to the US where I saw that civilized people clean their dirtiest parts with dry paper
I mean, everything else is washed with water: clothes, dishes, floors, hands etc. but poop is cleaned with ... paper! Actually, smeared, as you can't really clean it without water.
I live in a mid century house, and there is no way to install a real bidet, but I am quite happy with the insert which I installed the first week after the purchase.
Can't imagine living without it, but noticed that most people are very opposed to this idea. (as we can see on this, and several other threads on this Forum).
Apparently in certain parts of Europe they're super popular and standard fixtures in nearly everyone's homes.
Actually, bidets are common bathroom fixtures in most of Europe and also very popular in some South American countries, Japan, South-East Asia, South Asia and Middle East.
