Exactly what I was going to add. I have seen several problems with lint blocked dryer vents and everyone was attributed to operator error.
My tenant had a fire in the laundry room of a single family home I rent. She had two daughters, under age 10 that were responsible for doing the laundry. Somewhere along the line the pull-out lint trap was discarded and over time the line become plugged.
