Do they work?

Do people comply?

Realtors in my area provide shoe covers when a home has white carpet or new hardwood floors...

Any basic medical/hospital supply house will have a box of 50 or 100... They keep forever and don't cost much...

I bet your Realtor has a box or two in his/her car...

Yes, people do comply if they want to see the home... some looky lous will be put-off and leave...

Make up a sign and put the box on a card table at the front door. You should have a chair available because not everyone has perfect balance...

Some may choose to just take off their shoes...

Default Shoe covers

As a matter of course, I put on shoe covers when I enter any house I inspect. I don't like taking my shoes off, and it is so easy to slip the covers on and off when I'm going in and out.

I see boxes of them at many houses I inspect, so it is somewhat common. I usually offer covers to my clients during the inspection, but most just slip off their shoes.

I buy mine on line by the case.

Im not sure why the link to those shoe covers was deleted. The only suspicion is that the OP is a first time poster. I guess we all know what those shoe covers are though so no matter.

First off...where are you going to find a home buyer? There are none....anywhere, so dont get your hopes up too high. Second I feel that it is harder for people to put those shoe covers on then it is to just slip off their shoes. 80% of Americans have a bad back, the other 20% are from Europe.

That being said I suggest you make up a nice little sign saying to "Please remove your shoes". Place a large throw rug right in your foyer or in front of the door so several people at once can have enough room to take their shoes off. You could even add a little bench with a note to use it to put your foot on while removing your shoes. The one or two home buyers in America who are currently looking to buy a home would also get a kick out of your little event with the shoes and they will remember YOU first when they are finished looking at the 20 or 30,000 homes for sale in your neighborhood.

Good luck....you sure are going to need it !!
Let us know how you make out.

I use the shoe covers because I do not like walking around houses with my shoes off. When my foot gets wet in the bathroom, how do I know if it's splash over from a sink, or just bad aim?

Since I go into attics and such during inspections, I really don't want to walk around in my sox.

There are buyers out there, that's who I do most of my inspections for. Your mileage may differ.
