I'm replacing the rigid water supply lines on two toilets with braided/flexible pvc toilet connectors. I didn't measure the supply line length so I bought two 20" tubes. The rigid tube is about 6". I connected one and it has a massive loop which is mechanically fine, but aesthetically ugly. Moving on to the second toilet, I returned the 20" tube and got a 9" but this is just too tight.

What should I do? I'm not sure whether these things come in 6" lengths, but 6" may be cutting it too close. Do the lengths include the connectors? I can't get an exact measurement and hate to try to force it if it is too tight. Should I try to make the 6" work or go back to the 20" and have the massive loop?

There is nothing wrong with having a loop left over. You want to have a loop. In fact you have to. If it is too large it will look ugly. These braided vinyl or steel lines come in 2" incriments from 6" to 30".

Thanks Desertsun41. I figured the the longer one with a modest loop was best, but your confirmation of this fact gives me confidence.

You do not HAVE to have a loop.

Most standard height toilets can use a 12" water closet supply.
I prefer the stainless braided,
I would never use a PVC coated supply, too many bulge and pop leaks.
Have you ever seen a home with 3" of water?

A standard 12 closet supply should reach just fine. I hate the "loop" looks very unprofessional but then again I hate exposed flex lines for the same reason. I only ever use solid chrome plated supplies.
