We are trying to re-home our 17 month old black lab mix. He is a great dog, fully trained. He is part of a litter of pups we rescued. You can read all about him at Max needs a home!! - Home or go to chron.com in the Kango/classified section and look up ad 16849851. I know you stated a puppy, they are a lot of work, trust me, I took care of 11 of them. Max is his name, neutered and current on his shots. I have his mother and sister and brother. Max was returned to us, as per our adoption agreement, because his owners were moving. He was a bit unruly as he had been shoved in a back yard and forgotten. He is a wonderful boy, well mannered and loves to play ball. He lives with our trainer because as I said before we have three of his family members and two older dogs as well as two cats. We visit with Max often and Matt(The Texas Dogfather, in Katy), his trainer is wonderful. He has said he will help Max's new owner with his transition and any specific training they may want. Please consider Max. He needs a home and you need a companion. He is very loyal and loving. THANK YOU!!
Robert

Go to any animal shelter...LOTS of puppies and kittens out there right now all of whom are deserving of good homes. Or find an individual who is in need of rehoming their pet.

Adopt...don't shop!

If you can find a rescue pet that you absolutely love, I'd say go for it.

With that being said... you're committing 10-20 years of your life and thousands of dollars to this animal becoming a part of your family, so make sure you get the one you want and don't let anyone shame you into taking a risk on some dog that may or may not have good genetics/background/history.

Special Pals is right off of Greenhouse and Clay Road and Citizens for Animal Protection is just up the road on I-10. Both are close to Katy. If you would like to go into Houston then there is the SPCA and BARC. I have three shelter dogs at the moment that are the highlight of my life. One has her chin in my lap at the moment waiting for me to get off this darn laptop and take her for a walk .

Please, please, please, don't buy from a pet shop. Your just encouraging and supporting puppy and kitten mills. If you want a purebred find a reputable breeder with a good health guarantee and contract. You'll probably pay less too. You can always google AKC for dogs and CFA or TICA for cats and they will have listings by State for any breed you are interested in. Do your homework and be informed!
Adopting from a Rescue or Shelter would be ideal....saving a life and gaining a new furkid for the family. PM me if you'd like anymore info on cats or dogs.
