I would try to get a job in one of the other medical hubs, rather than the Medical Center, due to the high cost of housing near it. If you work at TMC, your least expensive housing option/commute will be Pearland. If you work in the Sugar Land hub or the Cypress hub - housing is more affordable (especially Cypress) and both areas nice. There is also the I-10/Gessner area (housing more expensive, but not as bad as TMC) and the Tomball area. You aren't limited to TMC.

Commute for husband will need to be factored in, as well.

The issue is that she does clinical lab research. 99% of that in Houston is going to be in the TMC. The outer hospitals all have fantastic patient care, but the research is essentially all done in the med center, where they have access to the med schools, etc.

You are right - I am guilty of scanning. Looks like Pearland for affordable and closest.
