My husband and I went to the new farmer's market today. We enjoyed it. We love the olive oil we get from the man there. We bought it when he was in an art show and then we ordered online. Now, we have him at this market. Great.

Got some great things. We bought all we could grown from areas nearby. It is on 3rd Street in Katy.

I salute the new comeback kid, local Farmers Markets in Houston. There several on weekends in downtown and Midtown Houston.

I also love the new Katy Fresh Produce Market! I go there at least once a week. Everything is soooo fresh. Tonight for dinner we had fresh corn on the cob, delicious homegrown tomatoes and asparagus. Prices are comparable to HEB although I was a little shocked that corn was 3/$1 which is high...especially since last week Target had awesome fresh corn for 10/$1!!

I didn't look at the prices. I guess my husband did, but I just love to support the local area and eat the fresh food.

We love the sugar plums from the area as well as the peaches, organic blueberries etc. The olive oil man is great and the olive oils are FABULOUS!!! We use them for everything. All flavors. I even have the lavendar olive oil for my hands.

We will go again very soon. Nice people.

One of the nice things about the Katy market is that it is pretty clear in noting which items have been grown within a short drive.

As with most produce markets - you will also find produce that likely comes from a great distance.

They are an authorized outlet for the peaches from the Fairfield TX area - they have been really good this year.

Is it expensive like Whole Foods? Do they have other items like Walmart/HEB?

They have their own Facebook page and can send you a notice when certain produce is coming in. This is how I knew Hempstead watermelons were arriving.

It isn't nearly as expensive as Whole Foods nor as fancy. They do not have as many options as HEB concerning produce but they seem to add more every time I visit. It is an open air small building with fruits and vegetables. They have peas, salsa, and fresh eggs in a cooler/refrigerator. Beans and other dry goods are in an adjoining room and various vendors are there selling baked goods or tamales. I have visited during the week and the outdoor vendors are not present. Maybe they are only present on weekends when there is more traffic.
