Care for Travertine & Wood floors (Murphy: coupons, new house, tile)

Hi: I'm moving to a new house and wanted to see if anyone here had advice on how to care for these surfaces. Some travertine surfaces are soft, other areas of the house look more like rustic travertine. What about that white grout between the tiles? For the wood floors I will appreciate recommendation on a good product to keep the floor clean and maintain the shine.

I don't like Travertine floors, it's personal thing. Dog traffic and noise are an issue on them. But, a good steam mop, like the Shark, works well for weekly cleaning. I would seal them every 3 years. Yes, the grout can look bad if not sealed often, and the grout can stain even with the sealer if the spill isn't cleaned up quickly.

Wood floors are my favorite. Most hardware/home goods places sell wood floor care kits that include the shammie and spray. Even a slightly damp mop with Murphy's soap from time to time is ok. Wood floors never look dirty, go decades without refinishing, don't cause an echo through the home and in general wear better.

I have a steam mop for my tile floors, and use Boma wood floor cleaner for my wood floors. Love it. They sell both Boma kits and Sharks at Bed Bath and Beyond. Get a couple of 20% off coupons and you are set!

I agree that Bona is great for wood floors. In my old house, I used Swiffer Wet until I found out that the chemicals (though they say are safe for hardwoods) will slowly strip away the finish on hardwoods.

I let the roomba run daily and use the Bona kit every couple of weeks.

We also use Bona on our wood floors. It was not only recommended by the store we bought the wood floors from, but also the manufacturer of the floor.
