NCAA requires a large stadium venue for the Final Four. The last time the Final Four was held at in actual basketball arena was back in 1996. Since then, you have had the Final Four in San Antonio, Atlanta, Tampa, New Orleans, Indianapolis, Detroit, and a couple others.

Agreed. But the Final Four is an event on par with the World Series/Superbowl, etc. People go to be a part of the overall event, not just see the game. SO they get huge crowds.

Most Final Fours nowadays are in big stadiums. More money for the greedy NCAA.

The Final Four, and many tile games are not about a viewing experience for the attendee (unless your in a suite). Its about generating $$$ and looking good for television.

Huh? More money for the cities hosting the games when more people travel and stay too. Without researching it, I'm not sure the NCAA is for profit? I don't doubt there are bribes and other deals made, but I'm not sure it is for profit.

Yeah, looks you should research the NCAA and how greedy and secretly corrupt of an organization it is. Definitely isn't the cities. Lmao.

Yeah a quick wikipedia read didn't highlight any glaring controversies but whatever.

I would think the reasons for having it in have a stadium with +70,000 capacity compared to 20,000 would be clear. More people spending money to reach Houston (air, bus, car), stay in Houston, and eat/drink in Houston; not to mention the media coverage. Seems like the cities get nice part of the pie.

Absolutely none of that. The NCAA just wants more money. Always been that way since they started using football stadiums for Final Fours. It has nothing to do with more people visiting Houston and I suggest not using Wikipedia. It's why cities without covered football stadiums don't host Final Fours anymore. They may host regionals, or earlier rounds, but that's it.

Still not following you...

Football Stadiums = greatest capacity

Final Four's popularity (along with college sports in general) has risen greatly over the past 2 decades.

So... why is it devious and corrupt to want a larger venue to have the Final Four at? Again I don't doubt that the NCAA has been involved in corruption and what not. But I don't see how the football stadiums have anything to do with it.

I watched on Baylor play in Reliant not too long ago on TV and it looked odd with all those empty seats. Wish they could have played at Toyota.
