I have lived in Nw Houston my whole life, and i can second some of these choices.

Red Onion, Redfish, and Rudys. These are three very different, but fantastic places to check out.

Try Red Onion at lunch time if you want to save some cash, it can be a little pricey for what it is. I eat sushi at Redfish at least once a month. Fantastic.

Rudy's is some damn fine BBQ for being so convenient.

If you don't mind driving into Tomball we enjoyed the Whistle Stop Cafe. it's local and not your typical place. Great pies.

There is a New Orleans style restaurant called "Babin's" which is really close to the Willowbrook mall. They have a big selection of items on the menu and it's just like eating in New Orleans! Somebody else mentioned Rudy's BBQ. I heard that was really good too!

Hi friends,

Thanks for the replies so far. I went to Peli Peli and tried the Chicken Salsa yesterday. I am sad to say I was VERY disappointed. Not only was the food cold, it lack any authentic taste I think.

I am mostly a chicken eater, and maybe it is better for other meats.

Just my two cents. I sincerely appreciate all the recommendations...so please keep them coming.

I am also looking for recommendations for a coffee shop type of place, where I can sit, use my laptop (must have WiFI) and get some work done....any suggestions please?

Thanks,
wonderfultravels

Campioni's is at Champions Forest @1960 se corner of the shopping center. It has been a local favorite for years. Some like the Doneraki's in that same place also, but I think they need to shut it down and get the fire hose in there and clean it up. Los Cucos up 249 @ Spring Cypress, on the east side feeder has been a local place for years. There is a Chuy's @ 290 and south of 1960. It is out of Austin.

Le Madeline and Fresh Express in the same Champions Forest shopping Center as Campioni's. You can compute and coffee, also the bookstore has a coffee shop.

Neat coffee place on Louetta called Drew's. Nice people...good coffee...comfortable surroundings and excellent desserts. (Try the Italian Creme cake!)
Pei Wei is good on 1960 for a quick lunch. Or Ghengis Grill (also on 1960).
There is a good kebab place (get the lamb gyro) next door to a Pho place (good soups) on the east side of 249 in front of a Home Depot north of 1960. If you are not tired of Mexican already Chuy's is good. (Off 290 and Highway 6).
These are all more casual quick stops. For a good dinner- try Mia Bella at The Vintage.
