That did not have anything to do with storm surge, just plain old flooding which is an entirely different thing.

Yes I know that was flooding - just commenting on how deep it got during that time. Just that it got that deep, so I just can't even begin to imagine that a cat 5 surge could bring up to 25 ft at the freeway and fuqua. Hard to fathom.

Any flooding from actual storm surge would be more likely to happen further up the road going toward Sims Bayou. I feel like if Ike had come up further west than it did, we would have seen more flooding in the city. Nothing on the scale of New Orleans, as the surge will be gone when the storm is and the water will have somewhere to go rather than sitting in a bowl. But it would have caused some significant damage and slowed recovery some.
