Hey...that 2nd picture is actually the same style as our house except a different elevation. That's a Perry.
And the one above it (with the swing-in garage) is a popular model by Trendmaker. You can find it in a variety of nicer, area neighborhoods for as low as about $160K on up to about $240K, depending upon the location.

I have seen the second one (the one you mentioned and reposted) in a variety of neighborhoods as well, priced between about $140K and $190.

It's not just cheap ranch houses. The Woodlands is loaded with 800k-million+ homes with those front garages.

My rental had one. Hated it, but at least I didn't own it.

At least with a detached you have privacy, and it's "welcome home, not welcome car."

My house (built in 1976) has 17 windows, but only 3 on the front--and they're enclosed by a courtyard. I love this design, since I have both lots of light and lots of privacy.

There is a breezeway from my detached garage to my kitchen. Like most of the neighborhood, I have replaced the little wrought-iron fence that came with the house with a 6' privacy fence and gate; I can walk to/from my garage in my underwear if I want (or sit on my patio in my bathrobe and drink coffee, which I do a lot). I never get wet when it's raining, and I don't have a house that's all garage--

Not saying this house is perfect---far from it---but it's just right for ME.

I don't know why you all care about the detached garage when it is raining...I don't think it's ever going to rain again anyways.

While I'm not a fan of the garage in front, it's not a dealbreaker for me.

Our house definitely has a prominent garage but we looooooove the house anyway.

We just wish the garage were a foot wider so I didn't have to crawl out my passenger side!
