What are the police doing in the morning by highway 6 and I 10? Are they looking for someone? I see they've been pulling people over......

Easy money, serve and protect their doughnuts... you name it....
My favorite is HOV lines where they stop anyone with missing stickers or whatever they may think is wrong.... Might as well put a checkpoint in the middle of the freeway as far as their common sense goes....

Police check to see if your stickers on the windshield are up to date to assure that you vehicle passed the safety and they are now able to check the validity of a registration plate by computer inside patrol cars. That systems tied into a patrol car's laptop to the state's registration database provide instant detection whether the license plates of cars in motion are not valid, or a vehicle is reported stolen.

Yes I saw that exact thing on Saturday going east on the Katy Freeway and then on Sunday once again when we were going west. Further in east Houston the cops all race around all over the place and those state trooper Tahoes are everywhere ready to pounce. All for useless tickets, minor drug charges, license plates not being on front bumpers, anything they can use to give an excuse for pulling you over. Meanwhile teachers are being laid off in vast amounts while HPD's funding cuts are minimal in comparison. I know I cannot be the only person out there that sees a problem in having horrid education nationwide, but wants to have an ever-increasing police force to deal with what lackluster education combined with economic problems does to people. "Forget about educating them, let's just lock em up in a jail cell. That way we can spend all the money we want to." In all seriousness though I know some people never have to deal with them and can't relate, but this has got to change or it will become much worse.

It's because all the fear-mongering. "If you cut our budget, all the pervs will be let loose on your school aged children and murderers will get out of jail free!".

They never say "If you cut our budget, we won't be able to check your safety inspection stickers and make sure you have your seat belt on! Click it or Ticket baby!"
