We've been in Houston a year, and I'm looking to change from Spark.

I've narrowed it down to Champion and Epcot.

Epcot has no charge for low usage ($9 a month from Spark is making me change, and they won't budge on it) but seems too low to be true and seems a lot of extra charges that I don't understand.

Champion appears to have no clause about termination fee waived if we move (and we may be moving in the contract year.)

My big question is HOW do I change? Do I wait until the day of the 1st contract expiration? A few days before? How do I coordinate this?

(Darn, how do I edit the subject line to correct spelling?)

If you want to break the contract with the one you have now look and see how much it will cost to break. Then go to the new company and tell them what day you want to switch. Once it switches call and cancel your original provider. It will take a few days for them to do this though.

I would not call who you have now and cancel it. Life sux if they turn it off before you have already switched to the new electric company.
