What are you guys in Houston area doing to replace Netflix. After their major fiasco of increasing prices by 60% I voted with my wallet like many others and immediately cancel the Netflix subscription.

Any Houston or national providers with alternatives for Netflix that I should consider? Amazon, Apple iTunes, U-Verse, Direct TV, what is anyone else using and how is the experience comparing with Netflix?

And I love to see their stock reflecting the customer feedback on their greed.

That's just the problem though -- even with the increased prices they are still the best deal in town. By far.

If you just get an occasional new release title, then redbox is your best bet. Problem is they seldom stock anything older than 3 or 4 months. Beyond that, you can do Direct TV / Uverse / Cable at $60 - $150 a month, or itunes / blockbuster at $4 a movie.

Bottom line -- $15 for unlimited streaming and a movie a week is a pretty amazing deal.

the netflix increase while steep is still a bargain considering what is out there. nothing compares to their stock of foreign and classics

I pay $7.99 for unlimited streaming on Netflix. There is no better option.

There is no alternative. Netflix used to be a steal, now it's a good deal.

I've got the $7.99 plan and I can tell you that the gigabytes I stream from their site each month is definitely worth more than that.

If Netflix streaming had a bitter catalog then it would the raise would be worth it the catalog is like 70% straight to dvd releases

I actually use the internet for the things I watch. There are numerous outlets out there. I don't know if you consider that a alternative. But I find the show I want to watch, then I connect my computer to my projector and surround sound. It works great, depending on the quality of the source.

Possible consequences in mind, torrents usually work for most things you would need and they are free. Otherwise I cannot seem to find something that can beat Netflix at its own game. Hulu does not even come close.
