I live in old Katy on the north side of I-10. Contrary to popular belief, it is quite safe in my neighborhood. The city of Katy police are fantastic and you don't have to look far to find one.

The 10-12 breaks-in were around cinco ranch area last month, near grandlakes and seven meadow, cinco ranch west. They are targeting the middle east people who going to the same restaurant at the regular base. KATY is not always safe. You are lucky if no one break in your home. Otherwise, no one install the monitoring......

Actually, not just in Katy or Sugarland. Indian/Asian culture is targeted because they own businesses and are known to keep cash. I know a while ago there were public service announcements directed at this demographic telling them to do bank drops, or have armored pick up at their business...etc.
