We went twice and made reservations ahead of time I think. Actually the gf booked it with groupons. We liked it a lot. The food was meh, but it was fun to cruise around the bay and see the big houses right on the water. You get a really neat perspective of the boardwalk, too. I remember one boat had music on the 2nd floor but we stayed on the bottom floor. We didn't do this during the summer, so I can't speak to the traffic, although I know it gets real bad on the weekends right now.

Budgeting 2 hours may be wise if a bit much. It takes me 55 minutes to Katy but I'm 20 minutes WNW of Kemah, so at a minimum figure 75 minutes to Kemah but then traffic over that bridge is usually very bad on a summer weekend, so is trying to find parking. Also I'd personally avoid I-45 south of the Beltway, as they are removing an overpass for awhile starting Friday 7/20. Use Red Bluff through Pasadena instead.

We didn't tip anything, and I don't think anybody else did. And well we are kinda cheap

If someone is serving you food and drink you should always tip.

Um nobody tipped there. It was a buffet line. Seriously.

I always tip well at restaurants, etc. Even when service is poor. Cheap is more in line with the fact we used Groupon before we ever even considered the cruise.

We did it once and had a good time. Food was good but nothing special.
