I am looking at Houston, among a couple of other cities/jobs, to start work in a few months. I will be working downtown, have a car, and would be looking at something in the $1,400-1,800 range for monthly rent. I'm 22, single, and looking to live the part of Houston that best fits that price, niceness, and age profiles. What areas of Houston should I be looking at?

I would look at the area along Allen Parkway. Very close to Downtown and you'll find a lot of people your age and it's definitely a nice area. If I worked in the area I would live there.

Thanks for the info. Are these places where I could find apts in high-rise apartment buildings? That's generally the type of prefer as opposed to a rental in a house or smaller building? Also, would $1,500 get me a decently luxurious place? Not talking super-nice, but pretty nice.

You could rent a decent size house for $1500 a month within 2 to 7 miles of down town

Yes, that's about the right price. Along Allen Parkway or memorial, near memorial park, and Upper Kirby. All those areas are close to each other and blend into each other.

Look within a mile's radius of this place:

The Royalton At River Oaks | Houston Luxury Condominiums
