Hello Chaps,

This is Andrew from Houston. I hope everyone is excited about the weekend ahead!

I have my lad from Leicester visting me this weekend, before he heads back to University. He is really keen on visiting the MC DONALD OBSERVATORY near Fort Davis TX this weekend.

I am driving from Houston, TX (Beltway and 249 area, zip code 77070)and will be leaving TONIGHT (Friday night) and returning on SUNDAY night, so its a rushed trip, but that's the best we can do.

I am looking for your suggestions on any travel trips, places to stop, avoid, must see sights along the way, eateries etc.

Thank you lads,
Andrew

My son and I just went right by there on our trip to LA for his college, and one thing I can say, watch out for the DPS cops along the way. We saw at least a dozen of them between San Antonio and El Paso. But at least the speed limit is 80 most of the way.

So be careful and enjoy your trip!

Thank you my friend. Any other tips? Any places about halfway between Houston to Fort Davis that you recommend to stop to eat?, sleep etc?

Any interesting sights along the way?

Thank You,
Andrew

I've always heard that if I ever go that way, to go on I-90 because is much more interesting than I-10, after San Antonio.

You don't have time for any sightseeing. I grew up in El Paso and I am very familiar with that drive. There is almost nothing out there but balmorea springs are kind of cool. Again you will spend most of your waking time on the road.
