My brother-in-law is driving into Houston tonight, but won't get here until about 10pm. I'd love to impress him with a great place to eat, even at that late hour. My requirements are:

--Under $30/plate
--somewhat kid friendly (i have a 10 year old, but he can handle most adult dining experiences)
--somewhat adult friendly (brother-in-law will want beer)

I live in Spring Branch off the I-10 near Campbell road, but for the right place, I'd be happy to do some driving. Any suggestions would be great. (Also, I thought this might be a useful place to start a list of late night places city-wide, so if your suggestion doesn't quite meet the criteria, I won't be offended)

Go to a place on Bellaire in Chinatown. Lots of interesting late night choices.

I would second Theo's if you like Greek food. Also, Ruchi's Mexican on Shepherd and Alabama or House of Pies on Kirby. Katz's is way overpriced IMO.

A lot of late night institutions have terrible food, but people love to go there after the bars close. It might taste better after some drinking.
