I'm just curious what everyone's age was when y'all bought your first home.

I'm a single (no wife/gf and no kids) 31 year old slightly below average guy. 5' 5" 150lbs, max bench press only 185lbs, average car 2011 Honda Fit Sport Automatic, two level 90 World of Warcaft characters, masters degree comp sci from Stanford, annual compensation only $136k, living with mom ever since I moved back from college.

Maybe its time I move out and buy a house also known as (by my coworkers) a bachelor's pad.

My old roommate bought his first house, aka bachelors pad, when he was probably 27, and didn't get married until he was probably 45. Yes, it is time for you to get your own place....apartment or house.

I was 27. But, I have been married since I was 19 (hubby was 20), and we finished college before having kids. The day we closed on our first house is the same day we saw our first baby's heartbeat on a sonogram! It was day to remember for sure!

And from a woman's perspective - it's way past time you get your own place!

At age 25 - married no kids, It was in Maplewood in SW Houston, two years out of college with both wife and I working. 1700 Sf home Bellaire schools, bought from two MD's who were residents working with the bubble boy, the person John Travolta played in a movie by that name. Realtor tried to talk us into buying more home and were right we should have that time lol. Sold it in two years when moved to the NE with a 40% price gain over this period.

I was 19 and got me a "shoe box" in Koln Germany. It was so freaking small, but hey, it was my own home. I still have it and it paid itself several times through rent. One rule is to avoid renting it to Turkish people :-) Don't ask me why....

I was 29, and my husband was 31. We had been married for almost 4 years and had one child. Found out our second child was on the way just a few weeks later.

Good luck looking for your first home!
