It used to be active, but the rise of Midtown and Washington killed it. Virtually, no one goes downtown other than to go to the Rockets, Astros, Dynamo, and Discovery Green. EoDo is decent. I like to hit Lucky's Pub sometimes.

A new Tequila bar just was announced. Downtown is a pain to park at. Even worse than Midtown or Washington. I just don't ever see it coming back for nightlife.

So dont drive and thats a weak excuse I dont see parking stopping places like washing ave, or the galleria and those places can be a real pain in the back side on the wrong day

I am not saying it is my excuse. This is just what I hear from everyone. I remember when downtown was the place to be about 15 years ago. Those days are gone. Downtown needs more living spaces downtown to support a night life. No one wants to go to a dead bar.

This could all change with the revitalization of buffalo bayou. The planning of a river walk similar to San Antonio I think would do well. This is many years off though. If it even happens.

Downtown has many more parking spots than Midtown, you just may have to walk a few blocks. Or you could pay $5 to self park rather than spend $10 on vallet in Midtown or Washington. Washington Ave. will soon have parking meters too.

Parking is pretty easy to me esp. when you compare it to other major cities where it's no way getting around paying $10 for parking. So I don't get why people think parking is hard in Houston unless they never traveled in other downtown cities outside of Houston.

That's because downtown is empty past 5pm.

Downtown needs a few more entertainment options. There really needs to be more cohesion with all the different areas around downtown. The little shuttle ride thingy they started was a great start, but more promenades, walkable districts, and lighting between destinations would really join it together.
