Wow! I have been searching high and low for a major city with an international airport, museums, galleries, concert halls, sport stadiums, performing art centers, restaurants, shopping malls and tall buildings. It's been so hard to find such a city. Houston seems to have it all. What a huge surprise! Thank you. Thank you. I am also looking for a city with public libraries. Don't tell me Houston has those as well. Awesome! Oh..and that famous Houston weather! I can't wait.

I just cannot explain your sarcasm...if you don`t like Houston why not go and post in OC.

Houston's a much better urban package than the entire Orange County area will ever be...and Houston's got better delivery, of course, in a Sunbelt context. The OC just has the...the Ocean, a second rate version of the Famous Rodent and juxtaposition to Los Angeles. Overpriced suburbia without the eccentric urban trimmings that Houston's got.

South Coast Plaza is really the Houston Galleria in bland, suburban cookie cutter form.

John Wayne Airport? Are we serious?

Where the heck can you go for that big skyscraper, night in the theater district vibe in Orange County? About 40 miles north in L.A. and even the City of Angels is hard pressed to match that Downtown Houston vibe at night.

Orange County has to manufacture "coolness." "The Lab" mini-mall. That says it all.

Houston's weather keeps you looking 10 years younger. Yep, I haven't dry skin issues back here in the Gulf Coast compared to when I was living in SoCal.

Austin is not better than Houston unless you like pretty hills nearby and sophomoric vibe. Actually, Austin is a neat suburb of Houston and it's only 2.5 hours away roughly.

Houston's got everything big city (good and bad) that Austin cannot compete with.

People drive to Houston from San Antonio and Corpus Christi to go to the Nippan Gaido Japanese grocery store or get a platter of gado-gado Indonesian. VIPs from all over the world get treated in the Texas Med Center's vast facilities in Houston. They don't go to Austin.

Sorry, but I live in LA. When I tell people I will move to Houston, they all give me this "but, why?" look. I swear I am not making this up.

I can relate. It feels people think you suddenly became uncool, retarded for thinking of such a move. and cowardly for not duking it out in these better, livelier cities. some folks even stop emailing you because your so far away DOH!

Thank you Worldyman!
I've been doing lots of research on Houston and I think it to be a great city.
I look forward to relocating there!

<<<Houston's weather keeps you looking 10 years younger.>>>

I'm a true believer in that statement - humidity (IMO) is a southern fountain of youth!
