Hello,

The last time we went to Hobby Center for a popular show (Mamma Mia) it was a fiasco... the garage was already full and with the traffic and all the #*&%!!!#$ one-way streets, it took FORTY minutes to finally get parked in that Tranquility Garage, I think it was. We missed the first 3 musical numbers.

This time the tickets are for Wicked. IF we can't get there in time for the Hobby garage (7:30 curtain and it's going to be tight) ... what are other good options for Hobby parking? Any close side streets that would still be safe at 10:30 or whenever we will get out? Many thanks! I am very rarely downtown so it's not my comfort zone, to say the least.

Park five or six blocks away and walk? Parking on the street is free after 6pm (I live about eight blocks from the Hobby Center and walk to all of the shows wearing a suit, the only exception is when it is sweltering hot). Or go out to eat at Damian's or one of the other restaurants in the city and they will usually have a shuttle waiting to take you to the shows/games and they will also pick you back up. You could go have drinks at one of the Hotel Bars and then take a cab or the hotel shuttle to the event as well.

Another idea, but I haven't tried this. There is a parking lot for the Buffalo Bayou Park on the other side of the bayou from The Hobby Center. You could maybe park there and walk the trail over the bridge that goes right to the Hobby Center. It is maybe two to three blocks total (walking wise).

Also if you drive a Lexus you get free valet parking, but valet parking is a long wait as well.
